The patriarchy doesn’t know how to hold you safely. That’s deeply saddening to hear. 🥹 As a man i at least I can surface at times... like a seal using an air-hole in ice to take a breath. I can be visual (applauded even) for very anti-social traits including violence (context specific) but I’d be much less inclined to show tenderness in public spaces. There’s not many can hold those parts of me and I’m just thankful I’ve found some rare folks 💎 who can 😊

As for mugs I always make the mistake of buying something I like the look of when really I want a mug that fits the shape of my hands. I want the feeling of warmth and a little texture to bring me deep into my feeling body.

I had no idea about Darwin! 😅 Turns out he was even called out about it at the time and stood by his claims that women weren’t as intellectual. Zero scientific resereach. 100% bias. It reinforces what I feel about most of science just skewed, or ignored, to back up preconceived ideas. Society is a loaded gun and science pulls the trigger. Or maybe it’s technology pulling the trigger as we move into a world of algorithm and AI 🤷

I mean my phone is a lot smaller than the mobile phone my dad had in the eighties...I'm not sure size is a decent indicator of efficacy?? 🤣

On any given day I'd probably say I love science too! The nuts & bolts of it as you say.

The over-inflation thing is an interesting one. I remember reading research that exaggerations were inherent in the University Press release (which scientists approve) rather than media or government spin.

https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0168217

Anyway, it's sort of by-the-by for me...my main gambit is that science occupies too much real-estate in public consciousness. It's sort of moved in where religion or God once was.

Which isn't science's fault or science's job to point out.

Scientists should continue to science but when even yoga teacher's frame their offerings as somehow seated in science or they normally do the opposite and call their teachings 'woo woo' as a deference to science, something is out of whack.

Just as we once thought the earth was the centre of the universe and science helped us unravel that story...we need a new story to help us unravel science itself?

Good luck to your husband and his Christmas present hunt this year! 🤣

xx

Anarchy when appropriate is a fascinating observation. It's recently come on to my radar in Syria with anarcho-feminism but the press doesn't like to report on things of such nature. Bottom up structures where women can veto anything. Check it oot! :)
