Here. I. am.
Have you ever felt like saying that to a room full of people?
“Here we are guys. We’re all here!”
Maybe try it at your next dinner party. When they say “We know we’re all here silly!”, you can say…
“No I mean here, here. We’re all here!”
Then leave a long silence.
It’ll help if you have really wild eyes when you say that last bit.
I get the urge to do this all the time and I think it’s only going to get worse.
People will be talking to me about the weather or the rail strike or whatever else is in the news and at some point I find myself starting to drift off.
Anything longer than 5mins of chat and I find myself thinking… “Oh shit I’m off again…listen to what the nice neighbour is saying David…no I can’t…too difficult…
I wonder wether this guy knows that we’re on a giant ball which has essentially been shot out of a cannon into space?
I mean he either knows or he doesn’t?
If he knows, he seems remarkably composed about the fact. The fact that the earth is chasing a 27 million degree ball of hot gas to destinations unknown. Shouldn’t we be talking about that at some point?
oh good I’m back and he’s still talking about cars…he hasn’t noticed I’ve been off somewhere
It’s odd because he seems way less composed about the car parking situation than the whats gravity all about situation
Wait…maybe he doesn’t actually know at all!
In which case…should I tell him? Like is that my job here?“
Is that our job guys?
Should we be gently waking up people at this point? I mean they say you shouldn’t wake a person up if they’re dreaming. It’ll be one helluva shock!
Should we just be attending to our own inner storms whilst trying to be kind to the folks we meet along the way.
Chances are they’re all gods in-disguise anyhow.
Years ago I worked backstage on a show about Buckminster Fuller. It had the best monologues about things like this, “Right now I am a passenger on space vehicle Earth zooming about the Sun at 60,000 miles per hour somewhere in the solar system.” After this he had the audience close their eyes and try to feel the movement of the earth. 🌍💫✨
